Major reshuffle in senior police ranks as 11 officers transferred

Eleven senior police officers, including those holding the ranks of Additional Inspector General of Police and Deputy Inspector General, have been transferred and posted to new positions.

The transfers and postings were announced in two separate notifications issued by the Police-1 Branch of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs. 

Touhid Ahmed, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, signed both notifications—issued on Thursday—by order of the President.

One notification details the transfer and posting of five DIGs. Under this order, DIG Md. Rezaul Karim has been appointed as the DIG of Khulna Range; DIG Md. Mostafizur Rahman of Khulna Range has been moved to Dhaka Range as DIG; and DIG Mohammad Muslim of the Anti-Terrorism Unit has been appointed as the Director (DIG) of the Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital. 

Additionally, DIG Mir Ashraf Ali of the Special Branch has been transferred as the DIG of Railway Police, while DIG Siddiqui Tanjilur Rahman of the Metro Rail Branch has been transferred to the Special Branch as DIG.

The second notification covers the transfer and posting of six other officers. Md. Sayedur Rahman, the Director (DIG) of the Central Police Hospital, has been posted to Police Headquarters as an Additional IGP. 

Additional IGP (Current Charge) Md. Mainul Hasan has been transferred to the Sarda Police Academy as its Principal (Additional IGP). 

Dhaka Range DIG Md. Iqbal Hossain has been posted to Police Headquarters as an Additional IGP, and Police Headquarters DIG Md. Kamrul Ahsan has been posted to the Special Branch as an Additional IGP. 

Special Branch Additional IGP Md. Sardar Nurul Amin has been posted to Police Headquarters as an Additional IGP, while G.M. Azizur Rahman—the Principal (Additional IGP) of the Sarda Police Academy—has been posted to the Tourist Police as an Additional IGP.

The notifications state that the orders, issued in the public interest, will take effect immediately.
