Gazette issued regarding new pay scale for government employees

The government has issued a gazette notification regarding the implementation of new pay and allowances for government officials and employees.

The Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance released the notification on Saturday. In the notification, the new pay structure is designated as the ‘Service (Pay and Allowances) Order, 2026’.

According to the gazette notification, under the new pay structure, officials in Grade 9 and above will receive an additional 40 percent of their basic pay, while officials and employees in Grades 10 through 20 will receive 50 percent, effective from July 1 to December 31 of this year.

This amount will be added to the salary drawn or due as of June 30.

The new pay structure was approved during a cabinet meeting held on August 31, presided over by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. The notification was issued today following that approval.

A 10-member committee, headed by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani, was formed on April 21 to provide recommendations for implementing the new pay structure. It was this committee that finalized the recommendations for the implementation of the pay structure.
