Dengue claims six lives in 24 hrs

At least six persons have died from dengue diseases in the past 24 hours till Monday morning, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

A total of 1,655 fresh cases of dengue were reported at the same time, it added.

"During the period,  out of the 1,655 patients, 217 were hospitalised in Barishal division, 314 in Chattogram division, 281 in Dhaka division, 167 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 166 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 271 in Khulna division, 43 in Mymensingh division, 146 in Rajshahi division, 41 in Rangpur division and nine in Sylhet division, 

This year Bangladesh witnessed so far 190 deaths while the disease inflicted 63,627.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
