Ruhul Kabir appointed new DC of Gulshan

Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan has been appointed as the new Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Gulshan Division.

The appointment was made through an office order issued on Monday and signed by the Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters and Administration) of DMP Headquarters. 

The order stated that the posting would take effect immediately.

Ruhul Kabir, an officer of the 27th BCS (Police) batch, previously served as the Superintendent of Police of Chuadanga district. He was transferred from Chuadanga to DMP last Sunday through a gazette notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The following day, he was posted as Gulshan DC.

The appointment comes after significant changes in the Gulshan Division. On September 11, a cocktail explosion and clash erupted during an Awami League procession in the area. In the aftermath, the then Gulshan DC M. Tanvir Ahmed, ADC Md. Sarwar Hossain, and Gulshan Thana OC Md. Daud Hossain were withdrawn from their posts.

A case was filed with Gulshan Thana in connection with the incident, naming several individuals and unknown persons as accused. Police have so far arrested 179 people on charges of involvement.

Ensuring law and order and maintaining security in the capital’s key diplomatic zone will be among the new DC’s primary responsibilities.
