PM seeks global support for dignified Rohingya repatriation

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday sought support from the international community to ensure the dignified repatriation of Rohingyas to their homeland.

He made the appeal when Julie Bishop, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General on Myanmar, paid a courtesy call on him during his visit to New York to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

During the meeting, the prime minister stressed the need for international cooperation to ensure the dignified return of Rohingyas and find a sustainable solution to the prolonged crisis, said PM’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.

The discussion also focused on the effective role of the international community in resolving the Rohingya crisis.
