6 deaths, 1,868 fresh cases of dengue inflection in a day

At least six persons died of dengue and 1,868 fresh cases were reported in the past 24 hours till Wednesday morning, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

It said, "During the period, (of the 1,868) 178 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 317 in Chattogram division, 405 in Dhaka division, 179 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 173 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 280 in Khulna division, 113 in Mymensingh division, 156 in Rajshahi division, 59 in Rangpur division and eight in Sylhet division."

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 201 deaths while the disease inflicted 67,367.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
