DIG Mizan withdrawn from DMP

DIG Mizanur Rahman has been withdrawn from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on the allegations of abducting a woman at gunpoint and then forcing her to marry him. 

Sohaili Ferdous, Additional Inspector General (AIG) at Police Headquarters, confirmed the matter to Samakal.  

After withdrawing, DIG Mizanur Rahman has been attached to the police headquarters in Dhaka.  

A woman alleged that DIG Mizan, also an additional commissioner of DMP, forcibly picked her up at gunpoint from her Panthapath residence adjacent to Square Hospital.

He kept her confined to his bailey road residence for three days and married her by force in presence of her mother. The incident took place on July 17 last year. 

Later, DIG Mizan hired a flat for his newly married wife at Maltamia in the capital.
