Ferdousi Priyabhashini passes away

Birangona and renowned sculpture Ferdousi Priyabhashini has passed away (Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un). 

The war heroine breathed her last at the coronary care unit (CCU) of Labaid hospital in the city around 12:45pm on Tuesday.         

Assistant General Manager of Labaid hospital Saifur Rahman Lenin confirmed the death to Samakal.    

Priyabhashini, who has been suffering from multiple complications including diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease, admitted to the hospital on February 23. 

She was among the victims who were persecuted by Pakistani occupation army and its local collaborators during the Liberation War in 1971. 

Priyabhashini was born on 19 February 1947 in Khulna. The Bangladesh government honoured her with Independence Day Award in 2010.
