Bus services resume

Bus services in the capital as well as across the country resumed on Monday morning.   

The bus owners had suspended the services for an indefinite period following student protests demanding safe roads.    

Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Samity on Sunday night decided to operate bus from Monday morning. 

Buses were seen plying on the streets of Dhaka in the morning as usual but the numbers were little.

Long route buses also left from city's Gabtali, Mahakhali and Saidabad bus terminals, reports our correspondent.

On July 29, two students of Dhaka’s Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College -- Diya Khanam Mim, 16, and Abdul Karim Rajib, 17, -- were killed as a bus of ‘Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan’ ploughed through some students in front of Kurmitola General Hospital on Airport Road. 

Protests sparked across the country following the incident. Students took to the streets demanding safety on roads and a reform to the transport sector.
