HC order to provide division to Shahidul Alam upheld

The Supreme Court has upheld the High Court order asking the authorities concerned to provide first class division to photographer Shahidul Alam in jail.   

The chamber judge of the Appellate Division Justice M Imman Ali on Monday dropped a petition from its hearing list filed by the government seeking stay on the facility.

Following the dropping of the petition, the HC order to provide division to Shahidul Alam in jail will be upheld, said Shahidul Alam's lawyers.

On September 5, the HC directed the authorities concerned to provide first-class division to Shahidulin Alam in jail. 

Detectives arrested Shahidul Alam from his Dhanmondi residence on August 5 and a case under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act was filed against him with Ramna Police Station on August 6. He was also placed on a seven-day remand in the case.
