New polls schedule declared, election on Dec 30

Election Commission (EC) on Monday declared new polls schedule, deferring the date for 11th parliamentary election to December 30.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda made the announcement at a programme at the Bangabandhu Convention Centre in Dhaka.
The EC came to a decision to defer the polls by a week this morning amid calls for a deferral from the Jatiya Oikyafront and other opposition parties, the CEC said.
According to the new polls schedule, the last date of submission of nomination papers will be November 28 instead of previous November 19.
On November 8, the CEC announced that the 11th parliamentary elections will be held on December 23 and the last date for submission of nomination papers is November 19.
