2 Netrakona Razakars get death for war crimes

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has sentenced two Razakars from Netrokona to death for their crimes against humanity during the country's Liberation War. 

A three-member bench of the tribunal, headed by Justice Md Shahinur Islam, pronounced the verdict on Wednesday.

The death row convicts are Hedayetullah Anju BSc and Shohrab Fakir. Both were collaborators of Pakistani occupation forces during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.

While delivering the verdict, the tribunal said the prosecution has proved all the six charges against former Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hedayetullah and Shohrab.   

The tribunal also directed the home secretary and the inspector general of police to take necessary steps for arresting absconding Hedayetullah.
