Railways minister apologises for delay of trains

Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan has apologised for the delay of four trains on the first day of weekend ahead of the Eid.

The minister came up with the apology while briefing reporters at Kamalapur Railway Station this morning. 

“A total of 18 trains left Dhaka till 10:00am while the schedules of four trains were disrupted. I’m really sorry for this and it won’t happen from tomorrow,” he said.  

‘Rangpur Express’ left the station seven hours behind its schedule,  Rajshahi-bound ‘Dhumketu Express’ was delayed by two hours and 15 minutes, Khulna-bound ‘Sundarban Express’ by one hour and 15 minutes  while Nilphamari–bound ‘Nilsagar Express’  by one hour  and 40 minutes, said the Minister.

Around two crore people live in the city for job and they leave the capital to celebrate Eid with their near and dear ones, said Nurul adding, “We’re trying to provide good services.”

He also said the railway stations of the country will be upgraded to international standard using modern technologies.

Advance train ticket sale for Eid began on May 22 but people suffered a lot to avail themselves of tickets through apps due to technical glitches on the first day of advance ticket sales.
