Derailment halts Dhaka’s rail link with northern, southern districts

Train communications of Dhaka with the northern and southern parts of the country remained suspended since Friday morning following the derailment of a compartment of a train at Salna in Gazipur. 

Subrata Das, a sub-inspector of Joydebpur Railway Police camp, said two wheels of a compartment of the Dhaka-bound Rangpur Express veeredv off the tracks around 10:000am when it reached  Salna, halting train communications on the route. 

However, none was injured in the accident while two trains including a Dhaka-bound ‘Sirajganj Express’ remained stuck at Joydevpur Rail Station following the incident.

On information, a relief train left for the spot to conduct salvage operation.
