Huge crowd at bus counters as advance Eid ticket sales begin

Private bus operators of the capital have started selling advance tickets for the Eid holidaymakers ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha on Friday morning. 

The sales began from 6:00am as per the decision of Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners’ Association and will be sold till 6:00pm every day before the Eid day.

Homebound people have been waiting for tickets since morning in the city's different inter-district bus counters defying rain, reports our correspondent.  

The advance tickets are being got from the capital's Kallyanpur, Shyamoli and Gabtoli bus stands.  

Sajedul at the capital’s Gabtoli Bus Terminal said he got tickets after standing in the queue in front of ticket counter for 4 hours. He expressed happiness as he got tickets for his family. 

"We have enough buses for the holidaymakers this time," said Mosharraf Hossain, general manager of Hanif Paribahan, adding that people are mostly buying tickets for journeys on July 8, 9 and 10. 

 The Eid-ul-Azha is likely to be held on July 12 depending of moon sighting.
