JU students begin 2-day strike for VC's resignation

The agitating students and teachers of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have called a two-day strike on Wednesday demanding resignation of the vice-chancellor for her alleged involvement in corruption in the university's development projects.

The students and teachers were staging a sit-in in front of university’s old and new administrative buildings.

Earlier, they set October 1 for submitting resignation of the university’s VC Prof Farzana Islam for her alleged involvement in corruption and moral degradation.

As the VC did not resign from the post willingly within the deadline, the teachers and students were observing the strike.

On Tuesday night, the protesters interrupted university’s transports resulting in low presence of teachers and students on the campus.

Meanwhile, VC-backed teachers’ platform “Bangabandhu Shikkhak Parishad” held a human chain in the morning protesting the conspiracy against the VC.
