Councillor Rajib pun on 14-day remand

A Dhaka court has put Tarekuzzaman Rajib, a councillor of Ward No 33 of Dhaka North City Corporation, for a 14-day remand in drug and arms lawsuits.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Begum Yasmin Ara passed the order around 12pm on Sunday.

Earlier, the investigating officer placed Rajib before the court seeking a 10-day remand for each case.

After the hearing, the court granted seven days' remand in the drug case and seven more days in the arms case.

RAB arrested councilor Tarekuzzaman Rajib from a residence in Bashundhara residential area on Saturday night as part of an ongoing anti-casino operation.

He has been charged with various types of land grabbing, including possession of land in Mohammadpur area in the capital.
