Paturia-Daulatdia water vessel services suspended

All kinds of water vessel services, including launch and ferry services, on Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma River were suspended due to heavy current.

The authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) has kept the ferry and launch services suspended on the route in order to avoid untoward accidents, said Abu Abdullah Roni, manager (commerce) of BIWTA in Aricha ferry ghat. 

The ferry vessel services remained suspended on the route at 1:45pm on Saturday while the authorities kept launch services suspended on the route since Friday afternoon, he said.

Ferries were kept anchored in Paturia and Daulatdia ghats, he added.

Hundreds of transports were seen stranded on both sides of the two ferry ghats. Dhaka inbound-outbound passengers are suffering much following the disruption of ferry and launch services on the busy naval route.
