Case filed over deaths of 16 people in train collision

An unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the deaths of 16 people in a collision between two intercity trains at Mondobagh Railway Station in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria.

Station Master Zakir Hossain filed the case with the GRP police station on Tuesday night.

Akhaura GRP Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shyamal Kanti Das confirmed the information to the Daily Samakal.

At least 16 people were killed and over 50 others injured in a collision between two intercity trains in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district.

The collision took place between Udayan Express and Turna Nishita at the crossing of Mondobagh Railway Station in the upazila at around 2:45 am on Tuesday.

Udayan Express was heading to Chattogram from Sylhet and Turna Nishita was moving to Dhaka from Chattogram.

Five probe bodies were formed to investigate into the fatal accident.
