New road transport law effective from today: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the new road transport law has been in effect since Sunday.

He said this at a city program in the morning.

Quader said the new law has some challenges to make operational fully, but it is being implemented from today for the greater interest of everyone.

He also commented that most of those who ride motorcycles without helmets are activists of political parties.

The minister said bus-train will operate through the Padma Bridge by 2021. And the construction work of the six lines of MRT will be completed within 2030.

Besides, Dhaka-Tangail four-lane highway will be inaugurated soon, the minister said.
