Moon gives first overseas convocation speech at Brac Univ

Former United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has addressed the 13th Convocation of Brac University on November 23 as the commencement speaker. 

This was the first time he spoke at convocation overseas accepting the invitation of BU Vice-Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang, said  a press release. 

The former Secretary-General supports education, global citizenship and energizing students, and has been a lifelong believer of the possibilities of education and youth. 

The convocation was held at Bangladesh Army Stadium chaired by President and BU Chancellor Md Abdul Hamid. 

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Abdul Momen and BU Board of Trustees Chairperson Tamara Hasan Abed also spoke on the occasion. 

Other members of the Board of Trustees were present along with 9,000 attendees. 

Earlier, Professor Chang and Foreign Minister Dr Momen received Ban Ki-moon at the airport and saw him off on Saturday night following the visit lasting less than 24 hours. 

This was the second time Ban Ki-moon visited Dhaka and it opened up the possibility for other upcoming visits.
