HC wants to know total figure of dengue deaths

The High Court has wanted to know the total number of deaths due to dengue fever caused by Aedes mosquitoes in the country this year.

The court asked the state to submit the report by November 11.

The High Court bench of Justice Tariq-ul Hakim and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir Lytton passed the order on Wednesday.

During hearing a suo moto rule issued in this regard on July 14, the High Court issued rule to place a report on the latest development of steps for controlling mosquito-borne diseases within 24 hours.

On July 22, the Dhaka South and North City Corporations submitted reports but the court was not satisfied with the reports.

Later on August 26, the court asked the city corporations to take necessary steps to control mosquitoes.

There is a difference between the statistics of dengue death tolls made by private and government.
