Razakars' list suspended, new list on March 26

Razakar's list published by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has finally been suspended. 

Minister of Liberation War AKM Mozammel Haque said that the list of the freedom fighters was suspended on Wednesday as the names of freedom fighters were seen enlisted on the list. 

The PDF file of the list has been removed from the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

The new list of Razakars will be published on March 26, he added.

On Sunday, the government published a list of 10,789 Razakars who opposed the country’s Liberation War in 1971.

The names of many freedom fighters were seen enlisted on the list as razakars that has sparked a widespread criticism across the country.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal commented that the list released by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs as a list of Razakars is not really a 'list of Razakars'.

He made the remarks while talking to journalists in his office at the Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon.

The minister said that the most-discussed list of Razakars published by the Ministry of Liberation War was not really a list of Razakars, Al-Badr or Al-Shams. This was a list of the accused in the case filed between 1972 and 1974 under the Dalal Act.

Kamal said that the names of 996 people were excluded from the list. However, the Ministry of Liberation War has published the entire list as a list of Razakars.
