Dhaka city polls on Jan 30

The Election Commission (EC) will hold elections to the Dhaka north and south city corporations on January 30 next year.

Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda declared the schedule for the elections at a press conference at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city's Agargaon  on Sunday afternoon.

As per the schedule, the deadline for the submission of nomination is December 31, while the date for scrutinising nomination papers is January 2 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is January 9.

The entire elections will be held using electronic voting machines (EVMs) instead of traditional ballot papers, the CEC said.

He also added that the voting will be held from 8am to 4pm without any break.
