3 Muktijuddho Mancha leaders put on remand over attack on VP Nur

A Dhaka court has placed three Muktijuddho Mancha leaders on three-day remand each in a case involving attempted murder charges stemming from the attacks on DUCSU Vice President Nurul Haque Nur and his supporters.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Haque issued the order on Tuesday after they were placed before it seeking five days remand plea.

The three leaders, who were detained earlier, are Muktijuddha Mancha's General Secretary Al Mamun and its Dhaka University unit's General Secretary Yasin Arafat Turjo, the organisation's Office Secretary Mehedi Hasan Shanto.

Muktijuddho and Dhaka University Chhatra League activists allegedly attacked VP Nur and his followers around 12:45 pm on Sunday at his office. The computers, chairs and furniture of the VP's room were vandalized during the attack.

At least 24 people of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council (BGSRPC), including Nur, were injured in the incident. 

The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Police have filed a case over the attack on Ducsu VP Nuhul Haque Nur and his supporters. The case was lodged with Shahbagh Police Station in the city on Monday night accusing some 35 people. Of them, eight accused were named in the case.
