Attempt to murder case filed against VP Nur

An 'attempt to murder' case has been filed against Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) VP Nurul Haque Nur and 44 others.

Sabbir, a student of Dhaka University, also an activist of Muktijuddyo Mancha, registered the case with Shahbagh Police Station on Wednesday, said Inspector (Operations) Mahbubur Rahman.

The case was lodged naming 29 persons while some 15-16 unknown others were made accused. Nur has been named as the number one accused in the case.

"In the case statement, Sabbir had alleged that DUCSU VP Nur along with outsiders took position on the Dhaka University campus last Sunday and tried to destabilize the campus. At one point, they attacked a number of people, including president and general secretary of Muktijuddho Mancha, and attempted to murder them and took away their mobiles and wallets," said Mahbubur Rahman.

However, Muktijuddho and Dhaka University Chhatra League activists allegedly attacked VP Nur and his followers around 12:45 pm on Sunday at his office. The computers, chairs and furniture of the VP's room were vandalized during the attack.

At least 24 people of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council (BGSRPC), including Nur, were injured in the incident. 

The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Police have filed a case over the attack on Ducsu VP Nuhul Haque Nur and his supporters. The case was lodged with Shahbagh Police Station in the city on Monday night accusing some 35 people. Of them, eight accused were named in the case.
