BNP's Tabith for Dhaka north, Ishraque for south

Tabith Awal and Ishraque Hossain have been given BNP’s nominations for contesting mayoral polls to Dhaka north and south city corporations respectively.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement of their nominations at a press conference at the party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in Dhaka on Saturday evening.

The two city polls are scheduled to be held on January 30.

Tarique Rahman, acting chairman of the party, joined meeting from London through Skype and advised the two candidates.

Tabith Awal, a member of the party’s national executive committee, also son of BNP vice chairman businessman Abdul Awal Minto, contested for mayoral post in the Dhaka north city election in 2015.

Ishraque Hossain, the elder son of recently late BNP vice chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka who was the last mayor of the undivided Dhaka City Corporation, is contesting in any election for the first time.
