PM to address nation on Jan 7

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address the nation on January 7 on the occasion of her government's first year anniversary.

Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will broadcast the speech of the Prime Minister simultaneously.

A source at the Prime Minister's Office said that work is underway to draft the Prime Minister's speech to the nation.

The Prime Minister will inform the people about the development and achievements of her government in the last one year. She will also highlight the future plans of the government.

The Prime Minister's speech will simultaneously illustrate the government's position on corruption, militancy, drugs and terrorism as well as various steps and achievements to overcome these problems.

The Awami League-led coalition came to power for the third consecutive term in a parliamentary election held on December 30 last year. 

Later on January 7, the cabinet of the present government started formal activities with the oath taking. Sheikh Hasina was sworn in as the prime minister for the third successive term.
