AL picks Atiqul, Taposh for Dhaka city polls

Atiqul Islam and Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh have been given AL’s nominations for contesting mayoral polls to Dhaka north and south city corporations respectively.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names at a press briefing at the political office of AL President Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi on Sunday noon.

The decision was taken at a meeting of AL local government nomination board chaired by AL President Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban on Saturday evening.

Emerging from the meeting of the AL Local Government Election Nomination Board, Quader said the announcement will be made on Sunday.

The elections to the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will be held on January 30.
