Excess must be within limit: Chief Justice

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has expressed his anger at the pro-BNP lawyers for making the chaotic situation in the Supreme Court during BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's bail hearing.

"Excess must be within the limit. We have never seen a chaotic situation like this before," he said.

Pointing to the lawyers aligned to BNP, he added as saying, "What you have done at the courtroom is unprecedented."

Referring to the Prime Minister's statement, placed by a lawyer, on the issue of Khaleda Zia on Wednesday, the Chief Justice said, "We will not see who says what." We will not judge without seeing the papers."

Since the morning, the BNP lawyers made a chaotic situation in the courtroom. They also shouted slogans frequently.

The court had earlier directed the medical board to submit a report by December 5, seeking information on Khaleda's physical condition. 

On the day, the authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) said that some tests on Khaleda Zia's health were done and some more were left. It will take a week to report them. 

The court then ordered BSMMU to submit the report by December 11 and fixed December 12 for the next order. Immediately after that, the pro-BNP- lawyers created chaos in the court.
