Rule on expulsion of students from PEC exams annulled

The section 11 of the directives of the Directorate of Primary Education has been abolished.

Sohel Ahmed, Additional Director General of the Directorate of Primary Education, told the court on Wednesday morning.

He informed the bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman about the government’s decision.

He told the court that there is no scope to expel any student during the Primary Education Completion (PEC) examinations from now on as in the meantime, the Education Ministry has canceled the section of the rule regarding expulsion.

The bench then dissolved a ruling on the issue.

Advocate Jamiul Haque Faisal represented the writ petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Amit Talukdar stood for the state. Shafik Mahmud represented the DG.

The state also informed the court that the results of the exams were released as per the order. 

On November 21 last year, the bench, in a suo moto rule, asked the authorities concerned to explain why the expulsion of children during PEC examinations should not be declared illegal.
