Ashamani's body found in canal after 5 days

The fire service personnel have recovered the body of grade one student Ashmani five days after she went missing in the DND canal at Kadamtali in the capital. 

Fire Service Duty Officer Ershad Hossain said that after a few days of frantic efforts, the fire service diver team recovered the body of the child at around 1:30 pm on Thursday. 

Locals said Ashamani was playing ball with Abdullah, Farhad, Nayeem and Ibrahim in the open space next to the house last Saturday afternoon. At one point, when the ball went over a pile of heavy dirt over the canal water, Ashamani went to fetch it. After the pile of dirt was removed, the baby drowned. Immediately the locals tried to rescue but they could not find her. On information, the fire service diver team later joined them.

Ashamani was admitted to Class One at Meraznagar Farha Model School this year. His father Ershad runs a grocery shop in the area. Their village home is in Munshiganj district.
