Govt publishes list of 1,256 more freedom fighters

The Liberation War Affairs Ministry has issued a gazette notification recognizing 1,256 people as freedom fighters.

The gazette was published on Tuesday following a decision taken at the 66th meeting of the Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (Jamuka) as per section 7 (Jha) of the Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (Jamuka) Act-2002, said a press release, reports BSS.

The gazette is available on the website of Bangladesh Government (BG) Press www.bgpress.gov.bd, it added.

According to the press release, the gazette of the 1,256 freedom fighters was published after scrutinizing about 1.5 lakh applications in three phases.

The list was finalized at the meeting of Jamuka after getting it checked by the upazila level and district level scrutinizing committees.

The newly enlisted freedom fighters will enjoy all facilities provided by the state for the freedom fighters, the release said.
