Bogra, Jessore by-elections underway

The by-polls to Jessore-6 and Bogra-1 constituencies are underway since Tuesday morning.

The polling began at 9 am and will continue till 5 pm without any break.

The Election Commission is claiming that elections have to be held even in Corona and flood situations as there is a constitutional obligation in this regard. 

On this occasion, a general holiday has been declared in the constituencies. 

However, people are not interested in this vote and for this, voter turnout at the centers is also low.

Jessore-6 seat became vacant on the death of Awami League MP Ismat Ara Sadeq and Bogra-1 seat became vacant on the death of Abdul Mannan of the same party.
