Dr Khurshid Alam made DGHS DG

Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, a professor at Surgery of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, has been appointed as the Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday.

The announcement of the appointment came hours after the government cancelled contractual appointment of Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad as DG of DGHS.

Prof Azad resigned as the health directorate chief amid criticism over his handling of coronavirus pandemic on Tuesday.
