Huge liquor, beer seized from Gulshan restaurant

A large quantity of foreign liquor, beer and lead were seized in a raid on a restaurant in the capital's Gulshan. 

During the drive, two people - restaurant manager Monir Hossain and cashier Sarwar Alam - were arrested in this connection.

The Department of Narcotics Control raided the Horse and Horse restaurant in Gulshan on Wednesday night. 

Officials of the department's Dhaka Metro sub-region Gulshan started raiding the restaurant around 10pm. 

The operation, which lasted till 12 midnight, found huge stocks of liquor, beer and lead in the restaurant.

Shamsul, an inspector at the Gulshan area of the Narcotics Control Department, said the restaurant was raided on the basis of classified information. 

Some 203 bottles of foreign liquor of different brands, 810 cans of beer, 2 kg of banned lead and 3 hookahs were seized from the restaurant, he added.

He said a case was filed with Gulshan Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act. The process of handing over the two detainees to the police station is underway.
