Use 'Bir' before freedom fighters' name: Ministry

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has published a gazette notification providing for the use of the word 'Bir' meaning 'Hero' before the names of freedom fighters.

The information was given in a notification signed by senior public relations officer of the ministry Sufi Abdullahil Maruf on Thursday.

In the notification, it is said that the freedom fighters have been defined as 'heroic freedom fighters' in section 2 (11) of the Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust Act, 2018. In accordance with the law and in accordance with the decision of the 13th meeting of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs of the Eleventh National Assembly, the word 'Bir' meaning 'Hero' should be used before the names of freedom fighters in all cases.

It has also been mentioned that the order mentioned in the gazette signed by Deputy Secretary of the ministry Matiar Rahman will come into effect effective immediately.
