Photojournalist Kajol granted bail in Digital Security Act case

Photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol has been granted bail in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

The High Court bench of Justice Mostafizur Rahman and Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order on Tuesday.

Lawyer Jyotirmoy Barua appeared for the petitioner and Deputy Attorney General Sarwar Hossain Bappi represented the state.

Saifuzzaman Shikhor, a ruling party MP from Magura-1 constituency, filed the case against 32 people, including Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, chief editor of Daily Manab Jamin, at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station on March 9 after a report was published on Shamima Nur Papia's Westin hotel-centric business.

Shafiqul Islam Kajol, who was on the list of accused after the case was filed, was missing for about two months. 

Later on May 2, the BGB arrested him from the Benapole border in Jessore.
