Plea to take case against Khaleda, Tareq, Babunagari

A plea has been filed against six people, including BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman and Hefajat-e-Islam's Amir Junaid Babunagari, for allegedly conspiring against the sculpture.

AB Siddiqui, president of Jananetri Parishad, filed the petition with the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court on Wednesday. 

The court, however, did not issue any order yet in this regard, said the plaintiff of the case. AB Siddiqui said the court recorded his statement and it would give the order later.

Others named in the petition of the case are BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Bangladesh Khilafah Majlis leader Mohammad Mamunul Haque and Islamic ruling party leader Syed Faizul Karim.

It is alleged in the application that accused Mamunul Haque had given anti-sculpture speech at a discussion meeting at BMA auditorium on Topkhana Road in the capital on November 13. And Junaid Babunagari gave an anti-sculpture speech at a meeting in Chittagong's Hathazari on November 26. Earlier, Khaleda Zia had threatened to overthrow Sheikh Hasina's government. After the independence of the country, the anti-independence forces are humiliating the country to the world by distorting the father of the nation, the map of the country, the national flag and the history of the liberation war. Accused Faizul Karim made an anti-sculpture speech at a public meeting in front of Baitul Mukarram Mosque while accused Faizul Karim has threatened to throw the sculpture in Buriganga if it is made.
