Chittagong City Corporation election on Jan 27

The Chittagong City Corporation election, which has been stalled due to the coronavirus pandemic, will be held on January 27.

Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Md Alamgir said this at a press conference on Monday.

He said the polling will be continued from 8 am to 4 pm using EVM.

Md Alamgir further said that there is no chance for new candidates to submit nomination papers newly. 

Nomination papers for the reserved women councilor posts can be submitted within the stipulated time (new candidates) due to death of the candidates in wards 37 and 40 and the EC will give them time. 

However, those who have already submitted nomination papers will no longer have to submit newly.

It may be mentioned that the election of Chittagong City Corporation was scheduled for March 29. But voting was postponed a week before the scheduled date due to the coronavirus pandemic.
