Papia, Sumon placed on three-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed Shamima Nur Papia, expelled general secretary of Jubo Mohila League’s Narsingdi district unit, and her husband Mofizur Rahman Sumon on three-day remand in the case filed over amassing illegal wealth worth around Taka 6.24 crore.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate KM Imrul Qayes passed the order on Monday as the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) pleaded for placing them on the three-day remand for further investigation.

ACC Deputy Director Shaheen Ara Momtaz filed the case with its Dhaka district office-1 on August 4 for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 6.24 crore.
