Suspicious bag next to the US embassy in Dhaka

A suspicious bag was found next to the US embassy in the capital city of Dhaka.

The bag was found at a checkpost adjacent to the Annex Building of the Information Center next to the US Embassy in Baridhara on Wednesday evening.

A bomb disposal team arrived at the scene after receiving the suspicious bag, police said. However, nothing suspicious was found in the bag.

Deputy Commissioner of Gulshan Division Sudip Kumar Chakraborty confirmed the information. 

He said there was nothing suspicious in the bag. However, the bomb disposal unit was informed and they disposed of the bag, he added.

A police source said a fruit knife and a cup of tea were found in the bag. Now the scene has been cordoned off.
