7-day compulsory quarantine on return from UK: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Malek has said that if a passenger from the United Kingdom arrives in Bangladesh without a Covid-19 negative certificate, he or she will have to stay in the mandatory quarantine for seven days.

The minister told this to the reporters at the Ashkona Quarantine Center in Dhaka on Wednesday, reports BBC Bangla.

He said a separate line would be set up at the airport for all passengers coming from the UK and those who do not have a Covid Negative Certificate will be tested there. From there, they will be sent to the compulsory quarantine at the Hajj Camp in Ashkona, Dhaka, he added.

But the government is not stopping flights to the UK right now, said Zahid.

A health ministry source told BBC Bangla that 156 passengers from the UK had already been quarantined in the last seven days.
