PBI asked to investigate Sayeed Khokon's case

The court has directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to probe the case filed against seven people, including former Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon, for embezzling Tk 34.89 crore from an unplanned shop at Fulbaria Super Market No. 2 in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam passed the order on Wednesday.

The PBI has been asked to submit its investigation report by January 31 of next year.

Earlier, Delwar Hossain Dulu, president of the Market Shop Owners’ Association, filed the case in the same court on Tuesday. After taking the statement of the plaintiff, the court fixed Wednesday for delivering the order.

The other accused in the case are - former chief revenue officer of Dhaka South City Corporation Yusuf Ali Sardar, former deputy assistant engineer Majed, Kamrul Hasan, Helena Akter, Atiqur Rahman and Md Walid.
