No Rohingya forcibly sent to Bhasanchar: Foreign Ministry

None of the Rohingyas were forcibly sent to Bhasanchar of Noakhali rather they went there voluntarily.

The Ministry of Foreign said this at a press release on Wednesday.

The statement said that some 1,642 Rohingyas were sent to Bhasanchar in the first phase on December 4. Then on December 29, 1,804 more Rohingyas were sent there and none of them were sent to Bhasanchar by force or financial temptation and there is no question of forcing those who have gone there.

It further said that the 30-year-old Bhasanchar is completely safe. No damage was reported to the island during cyclone Amphan and various facilities including accommodation, safe water and medical treatment have been ensured there.

The statement called on the international community to take strong action to ensure the repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar.
