3rd submarine cable project costs over Tk 693 crore

A project to install a third submarine cable system at a cost of about Tk 700 crore has been approved to ensure high speed internet.

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved four projects at a cost of Tk 2,115.20 crore.

Of this, government funding is Tk 1,440.87 crore, the company's own funding is Tk 300.83 crore and loans from foreign sources are Tk 363.50 crore.

These projects were approved at the ECNEC meeting chaired by ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. From Ganobhaban, the Prime Minister took part in the ECNEC meeting via video conference and the concerned ministers and secretaries were also joined via online. At the end of the ECNEC meeting, the Planning Commission's General Economics Department (GED) Senior Secretary Shamsul Alam presented detailed information on the project to the journalists.
