Illegal occupiers everywhere: Mayor Atiq

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam said that Illegal occupants of canals, markets, roads, lands are found everywhere.

He said this while inaugurating Udayachal Park and Playground on Iqbal Road in Mohammadpur in the city on Saturday.

He said, “Dhaka city needs to be developed for the next generation. So, we have to leave beautiful playgrounds, canals, roads. But when we start to do something, we find illegal occupants of canals, markets, roads, lands everywhere.”

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hasan Papon MP and local MP Sadek Khan MP were present as special guests on the occasion.

After the inauguration, a friendly cricket match was held between the DNCC and the Indian Embassy in Bangladesh. DNCC scored 300 runs in the match after losing five wickets while the Indian Embassy was all out for 128 runs in 13 overs.
