Mass vaccination begins Feb 7: Health Minister

Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said that a nationwide vaccination program will be launched on February 7. 

“We currently have 70 lakh doses of vaccines and those were sent to different districts, upazilas, hospitals and medical colleges of the country. It is hoped that vaccinations will begin simultaneously across the country on February 7,” the health minister told reporters after inspecting the vaccination site at Kurmitola Hospital in the capital on Tuesday.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the vaccination program at Kurmitola Hospital in the city at 3.30 pm on Wednesday. 

On this day, some 25 people of various professions - doctors, nurses, health workers, journalists, police and army - will be vaccinated against coronavirus. The Prime Minister will observe the vaccination program of five people of them.

Calling for an end to the vaccine propaganda, the health minister said, "Corona vaccine is not a politics for us, it is to save people's lives. Those who spread propaganda about it do not want the welfare of the country in any way.

Zahid Maleque said registration for the vaccine would begin after the Prime Minister inaugurated the vaccination program. Apart from this, people can also register for vaccination by visiting the health centre.
