Serum has no right to halt vaccinate supply after taking money in advance: Papon

Nazmul Hasan Papon, managing director (MD) of Beximco Pharmaceuticals, said the Serum Institute of India has been paid in advance for 1.5 crore doses of coronavirus vaccine and for  this, it has no right to stop supplying of vaccines.

He was speaking to reporters after receiving the second dose of corona vaccine at Kurmitola General Hospital in the city on Saturday.

Papon said, “Advance money has been given for 1.5 crore doses of vaccine. Meanwhile, 70 lakh doses of vaccines we have got but the Serum Institute has not yet sent 80 lakh of doses.” 

He said that the government should speak out strongly for getting the rest of the vaccines from the Serum Institute of India.
