Let students read books on various disciplines: Dipu Moni to guardians

Education Minister Dipu Moni urged the parents to give the students the opportunity to read all the books including art-literature, science and history apart from textbooks to develop the students’ mind as human beings.

She made the call at the inaugural function of distribution of book on '100 information on Father of the Nation' among the students of Meherpur district on the occasion of Mujib centenary organized by Meherpur district administration on Saturday.

Joining the virtual event at noon, Dipu Moni said students have to be worthy citizens to realize Bangabandhu's dream. One of the things she wants to emphasize for students to be worthy citizen by reading books. 

She, however, said that reading books does not mean just reading class books. 

Dipu Moni urges students of all levels to read as many books as possible in addition to class books.

The education minister said that when the students go to read other books (except textbooks), parents often say that reading (reading for class lessons) is being wasted. 

“I humbly request you not to do this. Let your child read as many books as he/she can in addition to the class books.”

She made urge guardians to let students read books on literature, science, travel stories, biographies, ICT and so many. 

She mentioned that many people in the world who succeeded in life have no degrees but they have read many books.

“So if we want to be educated in real education, we have to read many books, not just text books rather books on various disciplines,” he said.
